YCCD at CPAC Texas!

YCCD was in Dallas, Texas this past weekend for the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC)—one of the flagship events of the conservative movement. As official conference attendees and sponsors, YCCD spent the weekend engaging Republican leaders and party activists on the important topic of climate and clean energy.

The YCCD conference team included some of top young conservative leaders from across the country. This includes the state federation chairs of the Indiana, Maine, and Alaska College Republicans, as well as the national committeeman for the Utah Young Republicans.

YCCD’s presence at CPAC Texas also drew press coverage in the Houston Chronicle:

While many in the GOP might not consider climate a top priority, the party’s leadership has shown increasing signs of coming around on the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, said George Behrakis, president of Young Conservatives for Carbon Dividends.

“There’s a lot of good momentum in the right direction,” he said. “We’ve seen a number of top Republicans start to acknowledge the issue and realize the party needs to come to the table.”

CPAC attendees particularly liked the idea of a border carbon adjustment, which is a core pillar of the Baker-Shultz Carbon Dividends Plan. With this policy strategy, conservatives can deliver a climate solution that holds foreign countries accountable for their emissions and puts America manufacturing first.
