YCCD Leadership Team Transition
Today, Young Conservatives for Carbon Dividends (YCCD) announced updates to its leadership team. Kiera O'Brien, Founder and President of YCCD, will be returning to her Alaskan roots and joining Senator Dan Sullivan's (R-AK) team in a full-time capacity. As she did leading YCCD, she will focus on climate and energy-related policy issues. As part of this planned transition, George Behrakis, who has served as Vice President since YCCD's founding, will assume the role of President.
"On behalf of the YCCD team, I want to extend my profound gratitude and appreciation to Kiera," said George. "This organization exists because of her pathbreaking and visionary leadership, and countless young conservatives across the country—the YCCD team included—are now a part of the climate and carbon dividends cause because she lit the way. Guided by Kiera's inspiration, and with the capable team she's built, we are excited to carry forward YCCD's important mission."
"George and I have worked shoulder-to-shoulder since YCCD’s inception, and he has been a vital part of our growth and success to date," said Kiera. "Given his experience with GOP campaigns and various College Republican leadership roles, George brings an invaluable background in conservative politics and organizational development. He is more than ready to assume this new position, and I can't wait to see what he and the YCCD team accomplish next."
In other organizational news, Morgan Chrisman, who joined YCCD last year after working for the Massachusetts Republican Party, will be promoted to Digital Director. Alex Crispin, who recently worked as an organizer for the Republican National Committee and the Trump Campaign, will be joining the team as a Senior Communications Associate. Pete Seat, who is Vice President at Bose Public Affairs Group and served as deputy assistant press secretary to President George W. Bush and executive director of strategic communications and talent development for the Indiana Republican Party, will be joining as a Strategic Adviser.
The transition to these new roles will take place on April 1st.
