YCCD at the Texas Young Republicans Convention

YCCD joined the Texas Young Republicans last month for their annual state convention.

Young Republicans—ages 18-40—from across Texas traveled to Austin for one of the biggest YR conferences in America—and the biggest for the Texas YRs convention in 30 years.

Featured speakers included Gov. Greg Abbott, U.S. Representative Michael Cloud, Land Commissioner George P. Bush, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, and more.

As YCCD found—to no surprise—the message of Republican policy leadership on energy and climate resonated deeply. Many attendees work in the oil and gas industry as well as the burgeoning wind and solar business. With the left pushing policies that would hurt domestic energy production, Texas YRs were eager to discuss opportunities for the GOP lead with market-based solutions that empower businesses and entrepreneurs, drive clean energy innovation, and put American producers first.

At the convention, YCCD had the pleasure of running into Mackey Smith, chair of the Utah Young Republicans a champion of the YCCD cause.

We were glad to be in the great state of Texas, home of the Baker-Shultz plan’s distinguished co-author, fmr. Sectary of State James A. Baker III. To learn more about his remarkable career, check out the recent biography “The Man Who Ran Washington: The Life and Times of James A. Baker III”
