YCCD at CPAC 2020!
YCCD was honored to have a major presence at this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC)—the largest and most influential conservative gathering of the year.
The four-day conference drew more than 19,000 conservative activists from across the country, who gathered to champion the principles of liberty and limited government and to celebrate the many things that make America great.
Alongside GOP stalwarts—such as the Heritage Foundation, Fox Nation, NRA, Turning Point USA, Washington Examiner, the Young America’s Foundation, and more—YCCD worked to educate conservative leaders about the free-market carbon dividends solution and encourage Republicans to lead on climate.
In addition to a large exhibition booth in CPAC Central (which drew thousands of attendees), YCCD organized two successful breakout sessions on the pro-growth, pro-innovation carbon dividends solution. Together, these two events marked the most significant climate programming at CPAC in many years.
The first session, entitled The Free-Market Carbon Dividends Plan: How Capitalism Can Solve Climate Change, featured:
Joseph Pinion III, Fox News contributor
Pete Seat, former spokesperson, President George W. Bush
Kiera O’Brien, founder and president, Young Conservatives for Carbon Dividends
The second event, entitled How to Take on The Left on Climate and Win, was moderated by YCCD Vice President George Behrakis and featured:
Brooke Cusack, chairwoman, Alaska Federation of College Republicans
Evan Oudekerk, vice-chairman, Michigan Federation of College Republicans
Kiera O’Brien, founder and president, Young Conservatives for Carbon Dividends
Ty Seymour, national treasurer, College Republican National Committee
Notably, YCCD’s presence at CPAC drew major national media attention. This includes coverage by CNN, Bloomberg, The Washington Times, E&E News, Newsy TV, Hillsdale College Radio, and The Christian Science Monitor.
CNN’s televised segment was also syndicated by a local news outlets across the country, including in Florida, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, Montana, and more.
Overall, it was a very succesful conference. Almost everyone we spoke with at CPAC—especially younger conservatives—agreed that the GOP needs to answer the Green New Deal with a climate agenda of its own. With few exceptions, it was a solutions-focused conversation.
We are excited to carry forward the momentum from this year’s conference, and already can’t wait for CPAC 2021.
In the meantime, join us—and young conservative leaders across the country—in advancing a free-market climate breakthrough. Here’s the link to plug-in to the national campaign. 🇺🇸
